Undergraduate Student Workers

Undergraduate student employment postings are managed through the UC San Diego student employment system. Department HR contacts may post positions through campus systems such as Handshake.

To initiate an undergraduate student hiring request in Education Studies, email Gericel Oshmago with the following information:

  • A brief job description or bullet points describing primary duties
  • Required qualifications
  • Desired start and end dates
  • Approximate hours per week
  • Hourly rate and the index to be used for the position

Students may not begin work until approval is complete and an official start date has been confirmed.

Special justification may be required for students who are registered at another UC campus. At this time, the Education Studies department cannot hire students who are not enrolled within the UC system.

For additional campus guidance, review UC San Diego student hiring guidance and Student Employment Office resources.

Important Notes

Graduate Student Researchers are UC San Diego graduate students employed in research roles. Departments should follow campus appointment guidance and applicable union agreements when hiring student employees.
