The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) works to tackle issues impacting Hispanics, particularly in the realm of higher education. Alumnae, Sara Vogel, Is On the TEDx Stage
Dr. Sara Vogel, an EDS Alumnae Class of 2019, delivered her first TEDx talk at the University of the Pacific in April 2024, called, “Pleasure and Power: Why Pleasure Must Be Part of Consent Education.” This big idea she shares is helpful for all educators to consider as they work with students on sensitive topics such as healthy relationships.
Dr. Sara Vogel is a playful, dynamic, trauma-informed sex educator who is creating a world where conversations around sex and pleasure are normalized. For over fifteen years, she served as a leader in higher education, most recently working as a Title IX Coordinator supporting survivors of sexual and relationship violence.
She now speaks at colleges and universities to continue the fight to close the orgasm gap, liberate sex, and promote pleasure. Dr. Vogel is currently serving as a Fulbright Research Chair in Indigenous Studies at Vancouver Island, Canada, and is researching decolonizing and Indigenizing sexual wellness and empowerment education- focusing specifically on Hawaiian and Pasifika narratives.
Her chapter on the role of podcasting in sexual education and entrepreneurship was recently published in the book The Professional's Guide to Sexuality Consultation: An Exploration of Entrepreneurship, Strategic Planning, and Business Influence.

“Theresa Meyerott (a.k.a Dr. M!) was like an angel sent from heaven to help me navigate the doctoral process and even navigate life after the JDP. I recall one night she stayed on Zoom with me for 4+ hours as I made sense of my 150-page qualifying paper! Her presence was supportive, open and she always made me feel seen and capable!
