Emmanuel (Manny) dela Paz

Manny has worked in community organizing, social services, and public education for nearly 25 years, largely focused on access to higher education and graduate student affairs over the last 15 years. He earned a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Ethnic Studies focusing on Asian American Studies from UC Berkeley and a Master of Education from Harvard Graduate School of Education. He’s been at UC San Diego since 2005, joining Education Studies in 2017. He currently serves at the pleasure of the department chair, faculty, and staff as the department’s team leader.
Manny is a lifelong Padres fan & season ticket holder and was prominently featured with his wife Juliet in promotional materials (social media, magazines, billboards, trolley wraps) for their “real fans” marketing campaign back in 2012. They received a less than substantial payment of hot dogs and Diet Cokes for unlimited use of their likenesses!
