Diana Mercado-Garcia

UC Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow

Diana is currently a UC Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Education Studies at UC San Diego. Before coming to UC San Diego, she was a PhD student and Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Fellow at the Center for Education Policy and Analysis (CEPA) at Stanford University. Over the course of her career, she has studied several topics: English learners, education policy, organizational change, school finance, and social inequality. Her co-authored book, Preparing English Learners for College and Career, and most recent projects are primarily related to the post-secondary transitions of English Learner (EL) students. Prior to her doctoral studies, she worked at the American Institutes for Research (AIR) on preK-12 education research. She holds a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish Linguistics from UC Berkeley, and an M.A. in Sociology from Stanford University.
