Luz Chung

Biography

Luz Chung received her B.A. in Applied Mathematics and her M.A. and Ed.D. in Teaching and Learning from the University of California, San Diego. She holds Single Subject credentials in Math and Spanish, a Multiple Subject credential, a Preliminary Administrative Services credential, and a Bilingual, Crosscultural, Language, and Academic Development Certificate (BCLAD).

Prior to joining Education Studies, Dr. Chung was a middle school bilingual teacher in Logan Heights and served as a middle school vice principal in City Heights with the San Diego Unified School District. She also directed teacher professional development programs for UC San Diego Extension.

Dr. Chung’s areas of interest include critical pedagogy, multicultural and multilingual education, and service-learning. She teaches undergraduate foundation courses in the Education Studies minor as well as M.Ed. courses.
