Profile
Maura is a PhD student in Education Studies at UC San Diego, where her research focus is on the potential positive applications of AI in schools. She is particularly interested in how these technologies can enhance communication and collaboration for underserved learners within traditional classroom settings.
Prior to her doctoral studies, Maura earned her Bachelor’s in Education Sciences from UC Irvine and her Master’s in Education from George Washington University. She spent five years teaching high school English in schools around the Washington, D.C. area. Her experiences as a teacher and her upbringing in the Salinas Valley serve as primary inspirations for her work and her motivation to strive for a more equitable vision for education.
