Abdul-Rehman Mohammed Issa is a PhD in the Department of Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. Abdul-Rehman comes to his studies after a career as an educator in the Los Angeles area. He taught English in a Mild/Moderate Special Education setting before transitioning out of the classroom and into Administrative roles as a Dean of Students, Assistant Principal and then Co-Principal. He holds a Master's in School Leadership from California State University, Dominguez Hills. His research interests lie in: equitable and socially just trauma-informed interventions in marginalized communities, the burgeoning role of teachers as first responders to student trauma, and the ways in which Restorative Dialogue protocols promote the empowerment of voice and agency for students with special needs.
