Profile
Ramon Stephens is an Executive Director at the Conscious Kid and a PhD candidate in Education Studies at the University of California, San Diego. Ramon's research focuses on race, equity, identity development, and belonging for young children and adults. Ramon is a UC President's fellow, S.E.E.D fellow and a recent recipient of the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) teaching award at UC San Diego. Ramon's work supports equity-based teaching, programming, and collaborative partnerships that foster diversity, cultural competence, and organizational development. He is dedicated to supporting families, schools, educators, and organizations in taking action against systemic inequity and holds more than 15 years of experience in social justice work. He has published work in the areas of critical media literacy, culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy, critical race theory, urban education, and critical multicultural education. Ramon has presented his research at conferences including Stanford's Race, Inequality, Language and Education (RILE), the American Educational Research Association (AERA), and the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) and has consulted and held speaking engagements with Google, Nickelodeon, Gap Inc and more.
