EDS offers full Single Subject Teaching Credentials in World Languages

(ASL, Filipino, French, Mandarin, and Spanish – others per approval), as well as Bilingual Authorization Programs (BLA) in 9 languages (American Sign Language, Arabic, Cantonese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish, Vietnamese).  
 
Successful candidates from the BLA Program are recommended for a bilingual authorization which is attached to a Multiple and/or Single Subject Teaching Credential.  
 
We have partnered with the Study Abroad Office in order to offer enhancing language opportunities abroad that would help our candidates become fluent in the desired language.

Summer 2016 - EDS 115 & 117 Global Seminar: Ecuador Slideshow

EDS Global Seminar Program in Quito, Ecuador!

EDS now offers a Global Seminar Program in Quito, Ecuador. This opportunity will be offered starting Summer 2017 as a 5 week long Summer study abroad experience taught by Professor Alison Wishard Guerra.  Global Seminars come in a a package of two courses, EDS 115GS and EDS 117GS. Both courses satisfies the DEI requirement.  In addition, it will include a great travel component and will integrate field experiences gained through organized class excursions.  It will be taught in English and will give students the opportunity for one on one interaction with Professor Wishard Guerra as well as the opportunity to practice Spanish speaking skills.

The Global Seminar courses count for the EDS Minor and the Foundations requirements for the M.Ed since they are all equivalent:  EDS 115 and EDS 115GS, as well as EDS 117, EDS 117GS and SOC 117.  Just a note that students cannot take both the regular and the GS courses for credit since they are considered to be the same courses.

What are Global Seminars?

UCSD Global Seminars are 5 week long, summer study abroad experiences led by a UCSD professor. Students enroll in 2 English-taught courses (8 UCSD quarter units) and class sizes are between 15-28 students. Global Seminars provide a unique way to earn credit for your major, minor, GEs, or college requirements, all while exploring a new country and culture.
