for Faculty Participation
UCSD students and faculty in Education Studies and others interested in education research methods are invited to attend a one day conference on research methods used in educational research on Saturday February 6th, 2010.
This conference is particularly geared towards students
of Education Studies and others actively engaged in education and
research and will focus on methods of inquiry in education research.
We are interested in the multiple ways empirical methods are used
to effectively answer substantive research questions and advance
social theories. Presentations and discussions will highlight the
connection between methodologies and substantive research questions.
The conference format consists of presentations by advanced graduate
students in the education doctorate programs, round table discussions
to further discuss methodological approaches to different kinds
of educational research co-facilitated by an EDS faculty member
and a graduate student presenter, and a lunch time keynote address by
the Director of CREATE and Professor of Sociology, Dr.
Hugh "Bud" Mehan.
EDS Doctoral students who have advanced to candidacy are
invited to participate as presenters in the Winter Methodology
Conference! If you are interested in participating as a presenter,
you need to submit a proposal on a methodological issue, strategy,
or theory. See Call

EDS Masters & Doctoral Students are invited
to participate in and to attend the Methodology Conference
at EDS. Come and learn about the important and exciting role
of research methodology
in shaping your own research approaches and interests from
the expertise of our graduating doctoral students and faculty.
There
is so much to learn from all the exciting research that
is happening within EDS! Attendance is limited and spaces will
be given on
a first come basis. Sign up early if you want to come
and mark the
date!
EDS Faculty are invited to attend and participate in the
Winter Methodology Conference! Faculty participation
is needed to
serve as a moderator or discussant for one of the graduate
student
presentations or to co-facilitate a roundtable discussion
with a graduate student.
Faculty participation is highly needed and encouraged.
