Dallawrence Dean

Lecturer Higher Education Administration

Dr. Dean is originally from Fort Collins, Colorado and has a passion for working with students. He has taught on the subject areas of higher education, diversity, and race. He has over ten years of higher education experience working in administration with TRIO programs, study abroad, academic support, career services, and residence life. In 2017, he was awarded The University of Texas at Austin’s Heman Sweatt Student Legacy award, an award given annually to those who are transformative social justice leaders, create change through innovation, and prioritize underrepresented students. 

Dr. Dean’s research interests include international education, underrepresented students, and diversity, equity, and access issues in higher education. In his spare time, he enjoys watching sports, spending time with family, and traveling. He identifies as a proud first-generation college student, and was heavily involved in Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Black Student Alliance, and the Lory Student Center Governing Board as a student leader.

Dr. Dean received his Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Texas at Austin and his M.A. in Student Affairs Administration from Michigan State University. He also holds a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in Sociology from Colorado State University, where he was a proud participant in Upward Bound, Summer Bridge Scholars, and TRIO Student Support Service Programs.
